Seniors Roland Ruckmann-Barnes and Dheeraj Gurusamy of Granada High in California finished first and fourth in the East Bay Athletic League boys varsity cross country final at Newhall Park in Concord. Ruckmann-Barnes covered the 3-mile layout in 15:17.1 to edge Concord De La Salle sophomore Trey Caldwell in 15:17.7, with Gurusamy clocking 15:32.9 to help Granada capture the team title with 28 points. Ruckmann-Barnes improved from fifth at the championship race last year and Gurusamy equaled his fourth-place performance from last season.
